With this article, we aim to provide an overview of the different axles that exist in the world of bicycles. The type of axle you have determines how you should attach your trailer hitch. If you have any questions, send us an email or a message by WhatsApp!
disclaimer 1:although we really do our best to inform you as best as possible: we can't garantee that the hitch always will fit. Incase you doubt, please contact us!
disclaimer 2: a kickstand close to your rear wheel can literally get in the way of using a trailer hitch!
Axle with (cap) nut: A bolt through the wheel with a large nut at the end. This setup almost always leaves room for a tow hook. Unscrew the nut from the axle, place the tow hook, and then tighten the nut again.
Quick Release (QR): With this axle, you can easily attach the bike trailer by flipping the axle: Check out this video.
Thru Axle: With this axle, you cannot directly attach the bike trailer. You need an adapter. You can determine which adapter you need in two ways:
• Using this document CLICK
• Or using the Robert Axle finder.
