The Back Buddy has been designed to transport people with spinal cord injury on someone's back, in a way that is comfortable for both driver and passenger. Another application of the Back Buddy could be the assistance of casualties, in places where stretcher, ambulance or helicopter have difficulties to get to. The Back Buddy consists of two very sturdy shoulder straps and something that looks like a pair of cut open shorts, with buckles to close it. To operate the Back Buddy, clip open the leg sleeves, slide them under the passenger and strap them around the upper legs. Then the driver kneels in front of the passenger, puts on the shoulder straps, stands up and walks.
